President Donald Trump announced that he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Hungary, to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. This meeting follows a lengthy and productive phone call between the two leaders on October 16, 2025. While the exact date for the Budapest meeting has not been set, Trump indicated it would take place "within two weeks or so." Ahead of this, high-level advisors from the US and Russia are scheduled to meet next week to prepare for the talks. Trump also mentioned that he would update Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their meeting in Washington on these discussions. The talks aim to explore possibilities of concluding the Ukraine conflict and include discussions on trade relations post-war.
