Have you prepared yourself for tomorrow?

Allah Ta’ala berfirman,

O you who have believed, fear God, and let every soul see what it has put forward for tomorrow, and fear God. Indeed, God is aware of what you do.

“O you who believe, fear Allah and let everyone pay attention to what he has done for tomorrow (hereafter); and fear Allah, verily Allah is All-Knowing of what you do." (QS. Al Hasyr: 18).

Have You Prepared For Tomorrow?

Qatadah said that the Day of Judgment was near. So the tomorrow referred to in the verse is doomsday. (Tafsir Ath Thobari, 14: 65).

Ibnu Jarir Ath Thobari interpreted the verse above, "Look at what will happen on the Day of Judgment from the deeds done by humans. Is it good deeds that adorn him or are they bad deeds that will have bad consequences in the afterlife?” (Idem).

Self-intropection

About the verse above, Ibnu Katsirrahimahullah said, "Haasibu anfusakum qobla an tahaasabu (meaning: hold yourselves accountable before you are held accountable). Look at what righteous deeds you have prepared as provisions for the Hereafter and facing Allah, your Lord." (Tafsir Al Qur'an Al 'Azhim, 7: 235).

Make the Hereafter the Purpose

Shaykh As Sa'di rahimahullah said, "Allah Ta'ala commands His believing servants to fulfill the things that can creating faith and piety, whether the practice is done secretly or openly in every situation. They should pay attention to God's commands, laws and limitations.

They should pay attention to the good and bad things that they will get later. They should think about what fruit will be obtained from their practice later on the Day of Judgment. Will it reap good results or will it even harm because of the bad things done.

If a person makes the hereafter as a goal in front of him and becomes the anchor of the heart, continue to work hard to travel the path to the afterlife. Be serious by doing many practices that can lead to the afterlife. Then clear the road from various thorns and obstacles.

If they are convinced, Allah is All-Knowing of what they do, Allah is All-Knowing of what they hide. God cannot fail to pay attention to them. From here, we must be more serious and earnest in doing charity." (Taisir Al Karimir Rahman, p. 853).

An important lesson we can take is to make the hereafter a goal. Similarly, if we are given material gifts and abundant sustenance, make it as an intermediary towards goodness and provisions for the afterlife. From Anas bin Malik radhiyallahu 'anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said,

Whoever's concern is the Hereafter, God will place his wealth in his heart and gather him together, and the world will come to him reluctantly. And whoever's concern is this world, God will make him only He saw him before his eyes and spread his hands over him, and nothing came to him from this world except what was destined for him.

“Whoever intends to reach the afterlife, then God will provide sufficiency in his heart, He will unite his scattered desires, he will gain the world and bow down to it. Anyone whose intention is only to reach the world, then God will make him never feel enough, will divorce his desires, he will not get the world except what has been set for him." (HR. Tirmidhi no. 2465. Shaykh Al Albani said that this hadith is authentic. See the explanation of this hadith inTuhfatul Ahwadzi, 7: 213)

May we pay more attention to our practices as provisions in the afterlife.

Only God gives taufik and guidance.
